Cod is a true New England Classic and one of the pivotal seafoods that built the New England Fishing Industry. It is a white flaky fish, has large semi-firm flakes, and a mild flavor profile. The fillets are slightly thicker and meatier than haddock but not quite as dense as halibut. Cod is also low in saturated fat and sodium and is a good source of protein and selenium. Regulatory bodies throughout the Northeast have taken action to rebuild the Cod Fisheries resulting in it being a sustainable seafood option to enjoy.
